Vietnam Traveling Wall coming to Le Roy, Illinois

Posted: Updated:

LE ROY - A traveling monument that honors Vietnam War veterans will be making its way through central Illinois next week.

Officials say the Vietnam Traveling Wall will be escorted from Urbana to Kiwanis Park in Le Roy on July 21, with the opening ceremony for the wall being held in the McLean County city at 6:30 p.m. on July 23.  The monument will be in Le Roy through July 26, with different events being held on each day, such as a P.O.W./M.I.A. ceremony, musical performances from that era, and a reception for all gold star families from all conflicts.

Additionally, officials say several other displays will be shown near the wall, including a submarine display and quilts of tears.  All events are free and open to the public.
