DELAVAN – More than 51 homes were damaged by the EF-2 tornado that tore through the town of Delavan the evening of Thursday, July 16.

Without the sounding of the alarm, residents had no warning. They were blindsided as the tornado ripped through the South East portion of town.

Mary Ruth Lowry told WAND News, “I thought we were done. I really did.”

The community is in the midst of rebuilding after 9 homes were completely destroyed by the tornado. A town of no more than 2,000 residents has banned together to help one another on their journey to restore neighborhoods.
