Champaign Fire Department, Pink Heal hosting special event

CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign Fire Department is teaming up with Pink Heals to promote awareness of women's issues during a special event on July 21.

Officials say the visit is a part of the non-profit organization's cross-country road trip.  Visitors will be able to check out unique pink fire engines, turnout gear, and other equipment.  We have included a list of scheduled activities below:

- 9:00 a.m. until 9:50 a.m.: Station 1 for a small reception, finger food, pictures, signing the fire truck, and buying any of their t-shirts which helps fund their 160 city cross country trip. 

- 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.: Pink Heals will be at the City Building for any City employees who also wish to sign the fire truck, pictures, etc. 

- 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.: Market Place Mall raising awareness and funding by selling t-shirts. 

- 1:30 a.m. until 2:30 a.m.: Station 1 so that other on-duty crews can sign fire truck, pictures, etc. 

- 6:15 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. - North side of City Hall on Chester St. for elected officials and others coming to City Council meeting for pictures, signing of truck, etc. 

- 7:00 p.m. - Proclamation by Mayor Feinen to Pink Heals organization at City Council Meeting.
