DANVILLE – The Danville Dustbowl Basketball Tournament begins July 20 and offers free entry to area residents to play in the tournament and spectate.

This tournament has occurred on a yearly basis since 1973. The event is sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and will be held in the David S. Palmer Arena from Monday, July 20 to Sunday, July 26. The arena is air-conditioned and located at 100 West Main Street in Danville.

Nightly games start at 6 PM. Saturday games will begin at 10 AM with the finalists playing on Sunday. The Sunday championship begins at 2 PM.

Henton Sports took over operations for the Dustbowl in 2014 and will be running the event again this year. The Dustbowl is managed by circulating volunteers and officiated by IHSA referees.

Jason Henton of Henton Sports says their first year managing the event was a “definite success,” and he plans to keep the event growing.
