SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Police Department says one man has been arrested after allegedly striking another person with a vehicle on July 20.

Springfield police say officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of Stanton at about 8:30 p.m. for a report of a traffic crash involving a pedestrian, as well as a fight in progress.  Upon arriving, officers were advised that the altercation began at a party in the 2800 block of Stanton, and that as the fight ended, an individual identified as Raymond Henderson, 36, got into a pick-up truck and allegedly used the vehicle to strike another person who was walking from the scene.  Police say after allegedly striking the victim, Henderson then pulled into a parking lot then back onto Stanton where he would strike a pole and come to a stop.

Authorities say the officers found the victim lying near the roadway with a cut to the back of his head.  The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  Henderson was taken into custody on a preliminary charge of driving under the influence.

Springfield police say the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending.  We will provide more details as they become available.
