Champaign Fire Department responds to house fire on city's north side

CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign Fire Department says firefighters were dispatched to a home on the city's north side during the early morning hours of July 22.

Officials say crews were dispatched to a home in the 600 block of Corey Lane at about 3:14 a.m. for a report of a residential fire.  Upon arriving, firefighters say they found smoke and flames coming from the roof and south side of the home.

Authorities say the fire was brought under control quickly and was extinguished at 3:32 a.m.  Firefighters say the home was occupied by three residents, and that no injuries or fatalities were reported as a result of this incident.

According to a release from the Champaign Fire Department, the cause of this fire is currently listed as accidental.  The amount of damage done to the structure and possessions within is unknown at this time.
