Midstate Soccer Club participates in Schwan's USA Cup, raises money for Kick Cancer

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR - Decatur Park District officials say the Midstate Soccer Club's U12 boys team made it to the semi-finals at the Schwan's USA Cup.

The tournament was held from July 14 until July 18 in Blaine, Minnesota, and featured more than 1,100 teams from 19 states and 17 countries participating in multiple divisions.  Park District officials say the Midstate Soccer Club was one of 56 teams participating in the U12 division.

The Midstate Soccer Club defeated the Canadian Yukon Strikers in the elimination round and Minnesota's St. Paul United in the quarterfinals before falling in the semifinals to the division's eventual winners, the Cayman Islands' Academy Sports Club.  Officials say the Midstate Soccer Club also participated in the Kick Cancer fundraiser, raising more than $1,200; more than any other team in the tournament.
