Decatur Fire Department receives $40,910 grant

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded the Decatur Fire Department an operations and safety grant worth more than $40,000.

Officials say the grant was awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, and is in the amount of $40,910.  According to U.S. Representative Rodney Davis, these grants are highly sought after, and that the grant will help ensure "safe and up-to-date equipment" for members of the Decatur Fire Department.

Homeland Security officials say the AFG Program has provided approximately $5.6 billion in grants to first-responder organizations throughout the country since 2001.  For more information, visit https://www.fema.gov/welcome-assistance-firefighters-grant-program.
