CHARLESTON - The Charleston Police Department has announced that one man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that happened during the morning hours of July 22.

Charleston police say officers were dispatched to a home at about 10:09 a.m. for a report of a domestic battery in progress.  Upon arriving, the initial officer said he was met by a woman who was bleeding from apparent stab wounds on her head, face, neck, and hand.  Police say officers determined the wounds to have been caused by a pair of scissors.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries that are not expected to be life threatening.  Authorities say Kim Brant, 55, was arrested during the course of the investigation into this incident, and was transported to Coles County Safety and Detention Center.

Brant is facing preliminary charges of attempted murder and aggravated domestic battery.  We will provide updates to this story as they become available.
