Danville man faces first-degree murder charge

DANVILLE - The Danville Police Department has announced that it has made an arrest in a homicide that happened in November 2014.

Danville police say officers found a man's body outside of a residence in the 500 block of North Griffin during the morning hours of November 25, 2014.  Police add that the investigation into the death revealed that the victim, identified as William Newbern III, was shot, and that the shooting allegedly took place in the 1200 block of Clarence Street.

Authorities say they asked for an arrest warrant on July 22, and that on July 23 at about 2:30 p.m., Theron Price, 39, was arrested in connection with Newbern's death.  Price currently faces a preliminary charge of first-degree murder.

Price remains in custody at the Vermilion County Jail on $1 million bond.  We will provide updates as they become available.
