84 Junior Girl Golfers to compete in 36th Illinois Championship

SAVOY – The Illinois Women’s Golf Association (IWGA) will be holding its 36th Illinois Junior Girl’s Golf Championship on August 4 and 5 in Savoy.

This competition will take place at the University of Illinois Orange Course with a field of 84 junior female golfers competing. Event officials say this is a Junior Golf Scoreboard ranked tournament. The American Junior Golf Association recognizes this event in the AJGA Performance Based Entry System (PBE).

Nearly half of the competitors in this championship competed in the 2014 IHSA Girl’s State Tournament. 39 of the 84 participants are carrying handicaps of 10 or less guaranteeing high quality, competitive golf. The championship will be determined by 36 holes of stroke play. Players will be flighted by gross score following the first round of play.

The public is welcome to come watch the event. Tee times are set to begin at 8 AM each day. The course is located at 800 Hartwell Drive in Savoy, Illinois.
