SPRINGFIELD - In an update to a story WAND brought you earlier this week, the Springfield Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a shooting incident that happened on July 26.

Springfield police say officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Tyrone Drive at about 9:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting.  Upon arriving, officers say they found a 28-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound to his left side.  The victim was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, where he underwent surgery.

Authorities say officers allegedly found suspected illegal drugs at the scene and inside the residence, and that the execution of a search warrant resulted in Springfield Police officers finding a handgun, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia inside the residence.

Springfield police say as a result of the investigation into this incident, an arrest warrant was issued for Jeremy Bishop, 26.  Police say Bishop turned himself in to authorities on July 27.  Bishop currently faces a preliminary charge of aggravated battery with a firearm.

We will provide updates to this story as they become available.
