CCHCC hosting 50th birthday party for Medicare and Medicaid

CHAMPAIGN - Central Illinois citizens will have the chance to learn little-known facts about Medicare and Medicaid during a "50th Birthday Party" celebration, hosted by Champaign County Health Care Consumers, on July 30.

The celebration begins at 11:00 a.m., and will be held at 44 East Main Street in Champaign.  Attendees will be able to enjoy birthday cake, discuss ways to improve both programs for the future, and listen to a brief presentation at 11:15 a.m.  CCHCC officials say this event is part of a national effort to commemorate the 50th birthday of both programs.

Medicare and Medicaid were signed into law on July 30, 1965.  Both programs help to provide health care coverage to the elderly and low-income adults, children, pregnant women, and people with disabilities.
