Local Tourism Numbers

Despite more tourists coming to Illinois last year, fewer have visited some of the most historic sites in Central Illinois so far this year.  That includes drops in the number of tourists at Lincoln's New Salem site, the Lincoln Tomb and the Old State Capitol. But, both the Presidential Museum and Lincoln's Home have seen more tourists so far in 2015.  That's compared to last year.

However, Champaign county is attracting more tourists.  The State Office of Tourism says visitors spent more than $323,000,000 in Champaign County in 2014.  That makes an increase of 5.5%.  Visitors directly supported more than 2500 jobs and generated more than 5 Million in local tax revenues.
