Champaign police investigate report of shots fired

CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign Police Department is asking for the public's help in its investigation into a report of shots fired during the early morning hours of July 25.

Champaign police say officers were dispatched to the High Dive parking lot at about 2:06 a.m. for a report of shots fired.  Officers who responded to the scene say they were able to locate five bullet casings, and video recording shows a male being chased by a second male pointing a gun.  No injuries were reported in connection with this incident.

Authorities say the suspect was described as a young black male, wearing a white-colored shirt and blue jeans, and possible driving a red-colored Monte Carlo or Lumina.  If you have any information about this incident, you are asked to call Champaign County Crime Stoppers at (217) 373-8477.
