SPRINGFIELD - Illinois State Police say one person was injured in an incident involving three vehicles on Interstate 55 near Springfield Sunday night.

Authorities say the crash happened on I-55 northbound, at mile post 96, at about 11:03 p.m. August 2.  According to the preliminary investigation, ISP officials say a Ford four-door was traveling the wrong way in the left lane when it struck a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck head-on near mile post 96.

A truck-tractor semi-trailer traveling behind the Chevrolet struck debris from the crash, which caused the vehicle to become disabled, leading to the temporary closure of the right lane of I-55 northbound.  Police say the closure lasted approximately one-and-a-half hours.

The driver of the Ford, identified as Christopher Taylor, 30, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  ISP officials say Taylor was arrested on a preliminary charge of driving under the influence after being released from the hospital.  No other injuries related to this crash were reported.

This incident is still under investigation by the Illinois State Police.  We will provide more details as they become available.
