Macon County Conservation District hosting history program

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR - The Macon County Conservation District is inviting central Illinois citizens to learn more about early forts and blockhouses in Illinois during a special event on August 16.

The event will take place at Rock Springs Nature Center at 2:00 p.m., and will feature author, historian, and retired college educator Bill Wilson as the guest speaker.  Attendees will learn how these forts and blockhouses were used for protection and territorial control during the French and Indian War, Revolutionary War, and Black Hawk War.

This event is free and open to the public, and is designed for ages eight and up.  No registration is required to attend this event.  For more information on history programs offered by the Macon County Conversation District, visit http://maconcountyconservation.org/.
