Run United 5K to take place August 22

DECATUR – Consociate Dansig invites the Decatur community to participate in the Run United 5K Oakwood Street Festival on Saturday, August 22 at 5 PM.

Runners will meet at the main pavilion in Fairview Park, located at North Fairview Avenue and West Eldorado Street, and proceed down West Main Street. Eastbound lanes will be closed to accommodate runners. The race ends at the finish line on Oakwood, where the block party will be taking place.

There will also be an after race party at Fleet Feet Sports on 1090 West Wood Street in Decatur. All activities are open to the public. These include food, beverages and live music at the block party. Proceeds will benefit the United Way of Decatur and Mid-Illinois as well as the Oakwood Business Association.

Those interesting in registering for the 5K can do so here. Registration packets will be picked up at Fleet Feet Sports on Friday, August 21 from 3 – 7 PM. Runners can also register the day before or of the run at Fleet Feet Sports and meet at the race’s start.

Entry includes a t-shirt, as well as beer tickets for those over 21. Prizes will be awarded to overall and age group winners. More updates will be available at the 5K’s page here.
