1 injured in 2-vehicle crash in Effingham County

Posted: Updated:

EFFINGHAM COUNTY - Illinois State Police say one person was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 57 Wednesday morning.

Authorities say the preliminary investigation reveals that a 2012 Peterbilt was traveling southbound on I-57 near mile post 162 in the construction zone when it was struck by a 2010 Dodge pickup attempting to merge onto I-57.  Police say the driver of the Dodge told troopers that he thought he had enough clearance between the two vehicles.

ISP officials say the driver of the Peterbilt was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.  The driver of the Dodge was cited for failure to yield.  This incident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
