Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony Seeks Musicians

SPRINGFIELD – The Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony (SVYS) is holding auditions for its 2015 – 2016 season on September 1 and 2.

Student musicians from elementary through high school are encouraged to audition. If selected, students will play several times throughout the school year. All orchestra levels have openings for string players. The top ensemble, the Youth Symphony, seeks all string, woodwind, brass and percussion players. Acceptance is by audition only.

Auditions are being held at the Hoogland Center for the Arts located at 420 South Sixth Street in Springfield. Interested students should sign up for a time slot between 4 PM and 9 PM on either September 1 or 2. There will be a non-refundable $5.00 audition fee due at the time of auditions.

Auditioning students will be expected to play scales, sight-read and perform a short solo piece.
