More kids in home means higher chance for sickness

UTAH – A study from researchers at the University of Utah’s School of Medicine finds the more children in a household, the more likely it is that someone will get sick.

Researchers analyzed germ swab samples of everyone in 26 households each week for a year. Families with one child had viruses going around for about 18 weeks out of the year. Infections were found up to 45 weeks a year in families with six children.

Many viruses do not cause serious harm. Most are simple runny noses.
