Millikin Academic Year to start August 18

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR – Students arrive at Millikin University on August 18 for the kick-off of its First Week program and move-in day. Activities will take place from August 18 – 23.

First Week is designed to give first year students time to experience the college environment and engage in the Millikin community before classes officially start. Activities will begin when residential students move in on Tuesday, August 8, starting at 9 AM.

The week will consist of several workshops, seminars and networking with faculty members and First-Year Experience Mentors. Students will be able to learn about successful learning techniques, service opportunities and performance learning workshops from various colleges.

Millikin is combining with the United Way’s Day of Action to perform services at several sites including the Decatur Fire Department, Dennis Elementary Lab School, Tanglewood Village and Easter Seals of Central Illinois. Students will also be involved in these services as part of the Class of 2019 Day of Action.

The week concludes with an opening convocation on Sunday, August 23 at 7 PM.
