United Cerebral Palsy Announces New Afterschool Program

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR – United Cerebral Palsy Land of Lincoln’s Decatur location says it is launching a new afterschool program for this upcoming school year.

The free afterschool program is called Creative Life Kids. It will begin on Monday, August 17. This program concentrates on academic support, reading skills and homework assistance while also allowing children to engage in creative activity such as music, painting and drama. Students will also be provided healthy snacks each day.

Creative Life Kids will operate Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 5 PM during the school year. Students ages 6 – 21 with all types of disabilities are welcome. Officials say registration is required and should be done soon as there is limited space in the program.

According to Decatur Program Manager Charlie Stobaugh, the program allows pickups until 5:30 PM each evening to allow flexibility for working parents.  He also says parents can submit a request on their bus form to have their child dropped off at the UCPLL Decatur office each day.

Any inquiries about the Creative Life Kids program should be directed to Charlie Stobaugh by phone at 217-428-5033 or by email at cstobaugh@ucpll.org.
