CHAMPAIGN - Champaign officials say they have received $50,000 in the U.S. Small Business Association's "Start-Up in a Day: Start Small" competition.

Officials say Champaign was one of 25 cities selected by the SBA out of 100 applicants.  According to Champaign Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen, the city is "committed to improving the start-up process for aspiring entrepreneurs" in the community.

The award money will be used to help fund a proposed Virtual Incubator Program.  Officials say the program is a partnership between local agencies providing entrepreneurship services in Champaign County, and that it will be managed by the local Small Business Development Center.
