Decatur Ranks 7th in Minimum Wage Earnings


DECATUR - According to SmartAsset, a financial technology company, Decatur, Illinois has the 7th highest "real minimum wage" in the country.

The cost of living in Decatur, according to SmartAsset, is 11.3 percent lower than the national average. This means minimum wage workers in Decatur are earning a cost-of-living adjusted wage of about $9.30 per hour. 

Illinois' minimum wage is currently $8.25 per hour, 14th highest in the country.

The three US cities with the highest minimum are located in the eastern half of Washington state.
