First Responders Eye Federal & State Dollars

Posted:

Taylorville – First responders from 45 agencies met Thursday with Congressman Rodney Davis, (R) Illinois, and State Representative Avery Bourne (R) Raymond.

The meeting comes at a time when budgets at the State Capitol and Washington are tight.  State money is drying up while federal grant dollars for police and fire are still available.

“Even though we’re limited in what we can spend overall in the federal government there has been some good investment in first responders,” Davis told WAND News.

Christian County Sheriff Bruce KettleKamp says his county needs more money for mental health and drug enforcement.

“A new meth in this county is bath salts,” Kettlekamp said.  “And it’s just tearing our county up.”
