Former hospital executive sentenced to 9 years

SPRINGFIELD - The former executive director of HSHS St. John's Children's Hospital was sentenced to 9 years in prison Friday. Margaret "Peggy" Curtin, 56, was sentenced after pleading guilty to 11 felony charges.

Curtin was arrested in September 2014 on theft charges. The Sangamon County State's attorney said Curtin forged documents for a sham company to bill the hospital $700,000 --- which Curtin then pocketed.

The nine-year term is connected with penalties for theft, forgery, wire fraud, and money laundering convictions.
