Lincoln Mayor Passes Away Unexpectedly


LINCOLN- A city mourning the loss of more than just a mayor. Darren "Scott" Cooper passed away unexpectedly early Friday morning at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital from heart complications.
Only in office for 2 plus months his presence in the community will be missed greatly. 
City Administrator Clay Johnson said, "he wanted to see a lot of projects continue unfortunately he didn't get to see some of these projects continue but he was always a Lincoln first individual like i said very approachable and his leadership will be missed."

Friends of the late mayor spoke highly of his service and impact in the community. 
Friend Roger Bakken said ," He'll definitely be missed you know a hard working guy. I just don't know what else to say just a super friend you know?."

The city has appointed a Mayor pro temp Marty Neitzel who will act in place of Cooper until the council comes to a decision on who will finish out Coopers term that will end April 30, 2017.
