Second man wanted in Springfield shooting turns self in

SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Police Department has announced that a second person wanted in connection with a shooting incident that happened earlier this month has turned himself in.

Springfield police say Freddrick Johnson turned himself in at about 1:15 p.m. on August 14.  Authorities say Johnson faces a preliminary charge of aggravated battery with a firearm.

Police say officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting incident near 23rd Street and Cook Street on August 4.  One person was injured in the incident, and is still undergoing medical treatment at a local hospital.  The U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Jordan Donlow, 20, in connection with this incident on August 12.

In a news release, Springfield police also say they are continuing their investigation of an August 15 shooting incident that left one person dead and another injured.  This incident happened in the 1500 block of South 16th Street.  If you have any information, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at (217) 788-8427.
