SMTD makes changes to supplemental routes

Posted: Updated:

SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Mass Transit District is reminding residents that several changes are being made to morning and afternoon supplemental routes used by students during the school year.

SMTD officials say several routes have been combined, and some others have been eliminated completely.  We've included a list of changes made to the routes below:

Morning routes:

- Bruns Lane to 11th & N. Grand near Lanphier High School
- The downtown Transfer Center to 11th & N. Grand; and
- Laketown/Southern View to Ash & Greentree near Southeast High School.

Afternoon routes:

- 11th & N.Grand near Lanphier High School to Bruns Lane;
- 11th & N. Grand to the downtown Transfer Center;
- Ash & Greentree near Southeast High School to Southern View/Laketown;
- Ash & Greentree to the downtown Transfer Center;
- Lewis & Adams near Springfield High School to the downtown Transfer Center;
- Lewis & Adams to East Cook; and
- Lewis & Adams to Amos, Golf and Brentwood.

Officials say no morning service will be offered from the Brentwood, Golf, and Amos area to Lewis and Adams near Springfield High School this year.  Additionally, the routes that previously served Sandburg Elementary School and Christ the King School were eliminated earlier this year.
