U of I Police Department investigate vandalism


CHAMPAIGN - The University of Illinois Police Department is seeking the public's help in its investigation into a vandalism incident that took place on August 19.  

Police say the incident happened at about 6:00 a.m. at the Chabad Jewish Center in the 500 block of South Fourth Street.  Authorities say the incident was caught on surveillance video, which shows a man walking over to the menorah on the front lawn, and pushing it several times, causing it to fall over.

Police also say the menorah broke at its base, causing damages estimated to be about $2,269.  We have included a still image from the surveillance video showing the suspect, courtesy of the University of Illinois Police Department.
