Farm Progress Show Pumps $$ Into Decatur Economy

Springfield – Hammers, trucks and tractors.  All preparing the grounds of Progress City in Decatur for the 2015 Farm Progress Show.

It’s the largest farm trade show in the nation.  It runs September 1-3.  Progress City is on the campus of Richland Community College.

The show pumps millions of dollars into the Decatur and Macon County economy.

“Tourism dollars touch grocery stores, restaurants and hotels,” Terri Hammel of the Decatur Area Convention and Visitors Bureau told WAND’s Doug Wolfe.  “Just say for instance our hotels in Decatur and Forsyth, it’s over $1.3 million.”

The Farm Progress Show is expected to attract over 150,000 people over its 3 day run.
