Lake Land College to receive $1.15 million in grants

MATTOON - Lake Land College has been selected to receive $1.15 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Education to help serve low-income and disabled students.

U.S. Representative John Shimkus (R - Illinois) made the announcement on campus Friday afternoon.  The TRiO Student Support Services grants will be paid out over the next five years, and will serve 160 students with academic tutoring, course selection advice and assistance, financial aid information and assistance, financial and economic literacy education, and assistance in transferring to a four-year institution.
