Christian County Sheriff Investigates Vehicle Fire

ROSAMOND TOWNSHIP – Law enforcement officials say they are investigating the death of Pana man in a vehicle fire on Saturday morning.

The Christian County Sheriff Deputy discovered a vehicle fire in a grass way between a corn and bean field in Rosamond Township while on patrol at 9 AM on August 22.

The Owaneco Fire Department was dispatched to the scene. Officials discovered the body of a man inside the vehicle after the fire was extinguished. He was later identified as 62-year-old Lawrence Langan, of Pana.

Initial investigation of the incident reveals Langan was driving his 2008 Dodge Dakota pickup when he hit a culvert in the waterway causing his vehicle to catch fire.

Langan’s autopsy was held on Sunday, August 23, and the preliminary results are pending.

This investigation is ongoing by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, the Christian County Coroner’s Office, the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit along with the Illinois State Fire Marshall’s Office. We will report additional details as they are released.
