FAYETTE COUNTY - Illinois State Police say two individuals were taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash on I-70 on August 26.

The crash took place on I-70 eastbound at mile post 57 at about 3:15 p.m.  Authorities say the preliminary investigation into the crash reveals that a 1999 Ford Expedition crossed into the center median, then crossed back into the eastbound lanes, resulting in it rolling over.  A 2015 Freightliner Tractor Trailer then struck the Ford in the right lane.

The occupants of the Ford were taken to a local hospital for treatment.  The driver of the Ford faces a preliminary charge of improper lane usage and the passenger of the Ford faces preliminary charges of possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.  The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

The Illinois State Police continues to investigate this incident.  We will provide more details as they become available.
