Work to begin on northbound lanes of U.S. Route 51 bridge in Decatur

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR - Illinois Department of Transportation officials say bridge replacement work on the U.S. Route 51 Bridge has been switched to the northbound lanes, beginning immediately.

Officials say both northbound and southbound traffic will now use the southbound lanes of the U.S. Route 51 bridge over Lake Decatur.  Replacement efforts on the southbound lanes were started in April 2015, and have recently been completed.

Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and be prepared for delays in the work zone.  We will provide more information as it becomes available.
