Good Samaritan Inn & DIGG Merge

Decatur – The Good Samaritan Inn will be merging with Decatur Is Growing Gardeners, or DIGG.

Good Samaritan and DIGG run inner city farms on vacant lots known as the Mercy Gardens.  The urban farms grow food that helps feed low income individuals at Good Samaritan.  At the same time they provide job training opportunities.

“There’s a process we can take them through if they’re having a hard time finding a job,” Rev. Stacey Brohard of Good Samaritan told WAND’s Doug Wolfe.  “They could even create their own business out of this.  We have all the pieces in place for them to do it.”

“I can’t imagine how many people this is going to feed and employ which Decatur desperately needs both of,” Cindy Jackson of DIGG said.

The Good Samaritan served more than 130,000 noon time meals in just one year.
