One Injured in Stabbing Incident in Pana

PANA – The Pana Police Department reports they responded to a report of a woman being stabbed at around 4:41 AM on the morning of August 31.

According to Christian County 911, they received the call at around 4:41 AM saying a 44-year-old woman had been stabbed in the neck at 510 North Poplar Street in Pana. Pana officers responded along with Christian County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Authorities say they located the victim with a stab wound in her neck. She was then transported to Pana Community Hospital with the assistance of Pana Ambulance and Pana EMS. The victim was then moved to a Springfield Hospital Trauma Center and is currently recovering.

Investigations by the Pana Police Department, Illinois State Police Zone 4 Investigations, ISP Crime Scene Services and the Central Illinois Enforcement Group alleged 36-year-old Jesse Blades as the suspect.

Illinois State Police Zone 4 Investigations, CIEG, ISP District 18, ISP Air Operations, Fillmore Police Department and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated 903 North Main in Fillmore in an attempt to locate Blades.

Blades was taken into custody at approximately 1:30 PM after a short pursuit on foot through a wooded area.

He was returned to the Pana Police Department where he was processed and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and armed violence.

Blades has since been transported to the Christian County Correctional Center, while his case remains under investigation by Pana Police Department and Illinois State Police Zone 4 Investigations.
