CHAMPAIGN – Residents are invited to learn about the history of organized crime, tragic events and more about darker history in the United States at a local convention.

The Champaign-Urbana area will host the Annual Dark History Con at the Fluid Event Center on September 19 – 20. Organizer Brian Ward explains that the convention is not meant to glorify the crimes and tragedies but to educate spectators about the darker side of history.

Featured convention guests will include those who specialize in knowledge of organized crimes, tragedies and other related topics.

True crime authors such as Daniel Waugh, Kelly Banaski and Maureen Hughes will be present at the convention. Filmmakers John Borowski and Gary Jenkins will also be in attendance.

The convention will also feature art dealers, local vendors and raffles.

General admission is $5 in advance.

Additional information about the convention and sponsorship are available at www.darkhistorycon.com.
