Mobile Home Park Owners Settle Discrimination Suit for $75K

The owners of the Williams Trailer Court in Marion, IL  have agreed to settle a discrimination case for $75,000 with the U.S Justice Department. Lyle Williams, Kyle Williams and David Williams were accused of discriminating against prospective black renters and families with children in several incidents in 2014, claiming they had no homes for rent while showing available homes to white prospective tenants and those without children. A Federal consent order, filed Monday, says these actions were a violation of the Federal Fair Housing Act. The court managers and co-owners must also undergo specialized training on The Fair Housing Act.
