Fallen ISP Trooper Honored In Illiopolis

Illiopolis – An Illinois State Trooper killed by two drunk drivers in Illiopolis in 2007 is being honored.  An overpass on I-72 at the Illiopolis exit has been named in the troopers honor.

“As usual I hugged him.  I felt for his vest,” McMillen’s widow Angela Ressler said on Friday.  “I said I love you, I love you and I’ll see you in the morning.

I never said bye.  And I went to sleep and in just a few short hours everything changed.”

The naming of the overpass was made possible through a bill passed in the legislature sponsored by Senator Sam McCann, (R) Carlinville.

Illiopolis is located in Sangamon County.  McMillen’s parents were also on hand for the ceremony.
