Springfield gets a new radio station, but the hosts are no strangers!

SPRINGFIELD - A brand new radio station is launching Tuesday morning in Springfield. But the radio hosts are no strangers to the Capital City.

Brian Pierce and Kellie Michaels were best known for their "Brian and Kellie" morning show on WNNS-FM. After 17 years on the air in the Springfield market, they moved in 2007 to launch country station KFDI-FM in Wichita, Kansas.

Brian and Kellie had great success in Wichita and were even honored as the Country Music Association "Radio Personalities of the Year" in 2011.

Tuesday morning at 6:00, however, they're back home in Springfield to launch the all news "U-S 92.7". WUSW-FM will feature a mix of today's country of the past 20 years.

Kelly and Brian, who are married, are both from Central Illinois.

Brian told WAND News, "It's great to be back home with family."

Mark Birch, General Manager at Midwest Family Broadcasting also told WAND, "We are pleased to welcome home two of the best morning show hosts in the country to launch our new station."

There had been a lot of speculation in recent weeks as Midwest made some big changes to their list of radio stations. In August, rock station WQLZ moved out of the 92.7-FM location on the dial, and is now broadcast on 97.7-FM, which is the former home to alternative station "Alice" which is purely streaming online now. Midwest now owns and operates WUSW-FM, WNNS-FM, WMAY-AM and WQLZ online.
