Habitat for Humanity, other community organizations participate in Day of Service

Posted: Updated:

CHAMPAIGN - Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County officials say they are teaming up with Lowe's Home Improvement Store, the City of Champaign, and United Garden Hills Neighborhood Association to provide a day of service on September 11.

Officials say this Day of Service was inspired by the National Day of Service and Remembrance, during which citizens can honor victims, survivors, and individuals who offered help in response to the September 11 attacks by working with or helping charities.

Volunteers from the UGHNA and City of Champaign will help work on a home rehabilitation project in the Garden Hills neighborhood during this Day of Service.  Additionally, Lowe's volunteers will work at the Habitat Veteran Build in Urbana in an effort to complete landscaping projects.
