Cyclists raising money and awareness for ag programs in schools

Posted: Updated:

VERMILION COUNTY - More than five dozen cyclists will make their way through Vermilion, Champaign, and Ford Counties as part of the 20th Annual Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom Bike Ride.

This event will be held from September 8 until September 10, and will feature 80-mile and 40-45-mile routes for cyclists each day.  Officials say this event helps raise money and awareness for agriculture-based programs and classes in schools.

Participants will have support vehicles to assist in case of any mechanical or physical breakdowns, and to provide refreshments.  Cyclists will also make stops at schools along the route, and will discuss farming and bicycle safety with students at each of the stops.
