MCCD hosting annual Prairie Celebration event

DECATUR - The Macon County Conservation District is inviting citizens to explore life in the 1800s during its annual Prairie Celebration living history event on September 19 and 20.

The Prairie Celebration will be held at Rock Springs Conservation Area from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on September 19, and 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on September 20.  Visitors will be able to visit Homestead Prairie Farm and more than a dozen artisans in order to see what daily life in central Illinois was like in the 1800s.

Additionally, visitors will be able to try their hand at Atlatl spear throwing, wagon rides, music, and more.  Food will be available for a fee, with proceeds benefiting the Rock Springs Ground Squirrels Vintage Baseball Team.
