State Representative Brown will not seek reelection

CHAMPAIGN - Illinois State Representative Adam Brown (R - Champaign) has announced that he will not seek reelection in 2016.

In a news release, Brown says he is opting to take over operations of his family farm at the end of his term.  Brown also says that he would "like to thank everyone for their support over these years," and that he's "excited to move on to this next chapter" in his life.

Brown also announced that he is endorsing Edgar County Republican Chairman Randy Peterson to succeed him as representative for the 102nd District.  Brown took office in 2011, and previously served on the Decatur City Council, in the USDA's APHIS Division, and in the Foreign Agricultural Service.

The 102nd District covers portions of Macon, Champaign, Moultrie, Vermillion, Douglas, Edgar, and Shelby Counties.
