Water Service Work Planned For Downtown Springfield

Posted: Updated:

SPRINGFIELD – City Water, Light and Power announces lanes on North Fifth and Sixth Streets in downtown Springfield will be reduced to accommodate work on water services.

Crews will be working to abandon two old, leaking water services. These lane reductions will go into effect beginning Wednesday, September 9.

Lanes in the 100 block of North Fifth Street between Washington and Jefferson Streets will be shifted during work, and one lane will remain closed until road surface repairs are complete.

North Sixth Street at its intersection with East Mason Street will have lanes shifted during work, and one lane on this street will also remained closed until road surface repairs are complete.

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternative routes around the road work as it can be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.

City Water, Light and Power officials additionally encourage motorists to slow down and be aware of all workers and equipment in the construction zones.
