SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Police Department has announced that nearly a dozen motorists were arrested on impaired driving charges during their "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.

Springfield police say 11 motorists were arrested for impaired driving between August 24 and September 7.  Additionally, police say 18 seat belt citations were issued during this time.  Springfield Police Sergeant Charles Keen says that if police "saved one life, the campaign was worthwhile."

This recent law enforcement effort was coordinated by the Illinois Department of Transportation.  For more information about this initiative, visit http://www.nhtsa.gov/drivesober/.
