Springfield police investigating armed robbery

SPRINGFIELD - Springfield police say they are seeking the public's help in their investigation on an armed robbery that took place during the afternoon hours of September 6.

Police say the robbery happened at the Dollar General store, located at 921 West Jefferson, at about 4:20 p.m.  Authorities say the suspect entered the store, demanded money from the cash drawer, and announced that he had a handgun.  After receiving a small amount of money, the suspect left the store in a dark-colored older model Ford Explorer.

Springfield police say the suspect is described as a white male in his late 30s or early 40s, standing about 5'10" and weighing 170 pounds.  The suspect was last seen wearing a dark-colored T-shirt, khaki shorts, sun glasses, and a tan cowboy hat.
