SANGAMON COUNTY - Illinois State Police say one person was injured in an incident involving two vehicles on Illinois Route 4 Wednesday night.

Authorities say the crash happened in Sangamon County at about 9:00 p.m.  According to the preliminary investigation, Illinois State Police say a 2003 Pontiac had stopped on IL-4 in order to turn onto westbound Curran Road.  At the same time, a motorcycle was traveling behind the Pontiac, and allegedly failed to reduce speed.

Troopers say the rider laid the motorcycle on its side in order to prevent a collision.  However, the driver slid across the pavement and collided with the back of the Pontiac.

Illinois State Police say the motorcycle's rider was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.  This incident is still under investigation.  We will provide more details as they become available.
